EducateUS is building a movement of voters laser-focused on advancing progressive sex education policy and implementation across the country. We believe that universal public sex and relationships education can change the world.
We’re looking for young people, between the ages of 16 and 22, to join us in making that happen! If you’re passionate about making sex and relationships education universally inclusive and accessible, wondering how to create change both in your local community and nationally, and/or looking for an opportunity to grow your own leadership and collaboration skills, then you may be a great candidate for our Youth Advisory Board.
The Youth Advisory Board helps to guide all of our programming, and develops new ideas for programs and projects, some of which they help us turn into a reality. Our 2023-24 Youth Advisory Board has helped EducateUS create a guide to sex ed advocacy for school board members, revise our social media/communications guides, develop a toolkit for campus activists to use, and improve our strategies for outreach and list building, with an emphasis on organizing young people. They’ve also had a chance to develop their own leadership and collaboration skills, and generally guide all of our work to make sex education universally accessible
We’re looking for 4-6 young people who can commit to approximately 5 hours per month (about 2 hours of which will be meetings, workshops and trainings) for a minimum of one year. We will offer a stipend of $1000 per year to each Youth Advisory Board member, to be paid in quarterly installments ($250 at the end of each quarter). Young people from BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, disabled, neurodivergent, and other marginalized communities are strongly encouraged to apply.
Our movement is stronger when we come together across a range of skills, talents, strengths and experiences. If you haven’t yet worked directly on sex ed advocacy and organizing, don’t let that hold you back.
We’ve tried to make the application below as simple as possible. As you fill it out, please keep in mind that we want to learn about you and what makes you yourself. Applications are due May 20. We can’t wait to learn more about you!
Thank you for your interest in the Youth Advisory Board. Our application is now closed. Please be sure to check back soon for more opportunities to work with EducateUS. You can also sign up for our newsletter for important updates.
